Join us in welcoming Dr. Melinda Vandevort as the new school superintendent of North County Christian School! She is replacing Dr. Greg Clark, who recently retired. Dr. Vandevort holds master’s degrees in Educational Administration and Educational Instructional Technology. Her Doctorate is in Educational Leadership from Southwest Baptist University. Her undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education from Southwest Baptist University.
Dr. Vandevort’s educational career began as an elementary teacher. Over the years, she has served in leadership roles across K–12 education, including principal, district-level coordinator, Dean of Instruction, and most recently, educational consultant. These roles have allowed her to lead school improvement efforts, mentor teachers, and build systems that promote both student achievement and staff growth.
Dr. Vandevort is currently an author and contributing author of five books, with her most recent publication being M.I.L.E.stones of Women in Education: Motivate, an anthology spotlighting transformative career stories of women in education, focused on purpose, growth, and empowerment. She is also the host of the podcast, The Empowered Educator Show, helping new and aspiring administrators transition successfully into their role.
She is an active member of her church, serving as a service director and instrumentalist on the praise and worship team. She is passionate about students becoming the fullest version of who they were created to be, having served as a high school youth sponsor for many years. She strives to live out her faith daily through service, worship, and discipleship.
Her leadership style is deeply influenced by her experiences and is grounded in service, integrity, and a commitment to honoring each student and staff as unique creations of God. Dr. Vandevort is excited about the opportunity to be a part of North County Christian School where she can cultivate students who are spiritually strong, academically prepared, and socially responsible.
